He began his career in the youth teams of Santos and Palmeiras. Before progressing through the ranks at Caldense and Gremio Anapolis. He then moved to Europe with Real Sport Club in Portugal in 2018. Where he impressed enough to earn a move to Napoli before being loaned out to Rio Ave. Where he rose to prominence in the Portuguese league.

His greatest moment came with Benfica. Where he scored prolifically and was crowned the Portuguese league’s top scorer in the 2019/20 season. While also setting the second-highest goals-per-minute ratio in Portuguese football history.

Vinicius was then loaned to Tottenham Hotspur and played in the Premier League before winning the Dutch Cup with PSV and returning to England with Fulham, until last season (2023/24) when he moved to Galatasaray on loan and played a part in helping the team win the Turkish league and Super Cup.

His move to Gremio, signing a long-term contract until December 31, 2026, marks a return home for Vinicius after nearly six years in European football, and he will bolster Mano Menezes’ attack for the second half of the 2024 season.
