Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted David Raya’s penalty save and rebound was “incredible”.
Arsenal held Atalanta to a goalless draw in the first leg of their Champions League tie on Thursday, leaving the English side with a point.
After the game, the Spanish coach told Ufabet Sport that there were both good and bad things that happened, but he was personally happy with the one point considering the team conceded a penalty.
“If you can’t win, you have to get a point. We started well, then lost control and there was no continuity in the game. The game was open but the defence was not under pressure, except for the penalty where David Raya made one of the best saves I’ve ever seen in my life.
“As we expected, it was a tough game, สมัคร ufabet not the most exciting game. We started very well and held on.
“But after that we lost a lot of balls and couldn’t keep the rhythm of the game. There were a lot of good things and of course there are a lot of things to improve.”
Speaking to the press at Villa Park after the game, Mikel Arteta admitted he thought Watkins had scored before Raya’s sensational save. The Arsenal boss said: “I thought it was a goal.
“I saw the reaction of the defensive line which was none because the ball goes on the crossbar. We’re all watching the ball and I went, ‘No, please.’ Then I see the striker in that position and normally it’s a goal. David’s reaction is unbelievable.”
