Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya reveals his latest penalty save came on advice from goalkeeping coach.
Arsenal held Atalanta to a goalless draw in the first leg of their Champions League tie on Thursday, leaving the English side with a point.
After the match, Raya, who saved a penalty and a second-half header from Mateo Retegui to keep the team from conceding, said he felt great about helping the team keep a goal and talked about going out and talking to the club’s goalkeeping coach.
“We knew it was a difficult place to come away from, they are a great team who made it difficult for us but we also made it difficult for them. They didn’t create many chances, it’s a point away from home, we could have done better but I thought we organised the game well,” the Spanish goalkeeper told TNT Sports.
“I was lucky to dive in the right UFABET direction and keep it out (the penalty). I was also lucky to save the rebound (from Reteki). I’ve got up quickly enough and made the save. It’s great to not concede a goal and to get a point for the team.
“It took a long time to decide the penalty, so I went to the sidelines and talked to the goalkeeper coach about where to dive and where not to dive. He helped me a lot, so credit to him.”
